12/9/2013 Renee Brennan

It is with great pain and a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Renee Brennan, SUN-B Board Member Emeritus.
Renee waged a hard-fought battle against colon cancer for the last four years. The courage, determination and relentless spirit that Renee demonstrated against this vicious and insidious enemy was inspirational. I spoke of her often, most recently at our 10th Anniversary Luncheon.
Renee was a bright light that dimmed too soon and had every gift except a long life. She was a close friend and enriched my life in ways that are impossible to convey.
A family friend wrote the following poem for his wife - it encompasses the sentiments I find so difficult to express:

God saw you were getting tired

And a cure was not to be

So he put his arms around you

And whispered, "Come to me"

With tearful eyes we watched you

And saw you pass away

Although we loved you dearly

We could not make you stay

A golden heart stopped beating

Hard working hands at rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

Renee was 66 years old. She leaves behind a husband, two children, two grandchildren, her mother, sister, countless friends and a vault of memories that I will always cherish.
With great sorrow,
